  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups Domino® Golden Sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 cups unsalted butter, room temperature (for frosting)
  • 8 cups Domino® Powdered Sugar
  • 2 tsp almond extract
  • 35 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • Red and blue gel icing color

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line cupcake pans with liners.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  3. Cream together butter and sugar until light. Add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla.
  4. Gradually blend dry ingredients with milk until just combined.
  5. Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full and bake for about 18 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on wire racks.
  6. For frosting, beat butter until creamy, add powdered sugar gradually, then mix in almond extract and cream to desired consistency. Color portions red and blue.
  7. Assemble cupcakes in an American flag shape and frost accordingly.
