- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 4 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 cups Domino® Golden Sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 2 cups unsalted butter, room temperature (for frosting)
- 8 cups Domino® Powdered Sugar
- 2 tsp almond extract
- 3–5 tbsp heavy whipping cream
- Red and blue gel icing color
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line cupcake pans with liners.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
- Cream together butter and sugar until light. Add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla.
- Gradually blend dry ingredients with milk until just combined.
- Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full and bake for about 18 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on wire racks.
- For frosting, beat butter until creamy, add powdered sugar gradually, then mix in almond extract and cream to desired consistency. Color portions red and blue.
- Assemble cupcakes in an American flag shape and frost accordingly.
