  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1 onion (finely diced)
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper until combined. Form into 6–8 oval-shaped patties.
  2. Brown patties in a cast iron skillet over medium heat for 3–4 minutes on each side; set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté sliced onions until soft. Add flour to create a roux; stir for about two minutes.
  4. Gradually whisk in beef broth and cream until smooth.
  5. Nestle browned patties back into the gravy mixture and cover with a lid or foil.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 45 minutes; uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes to brown.
  7. Let rest for ten minutes before serving.
