Perfect for any occasion—from family gatherings to cozy evenings at home—this dish fills your kitchen with a warm, inviting aroma. With just a handful of pantry staples, you can whip up this easy-to-follow recipe that’s sure to impress everyone around the table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 cups Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored and sliced into inch thick slices then cut the slices in half)
  • ½ cup light brown sugar (tightly packed)
  • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ⅓ cups quick cooking oats
  • 1 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup light brown sugar (tightly packed)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly spray a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. In a very large mixing bowl, add the apple slices. Stir in the light brown sugar, all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Gently fold all ingredients together to coat the apple slices evenly.
  3. Transfer the apple filling mixture into the prepared baking dish. Spread it into an even layer without packing it too tightly.
  4. In another large mixing bowl, combine quick cooking oats, all-purpose flour, light brown sugar, ground cinnamon, salt, and baking powder. Stir until fully combined.
  5. Add melted butter to the oat mixture. Mix until all butter is evenly incorporated. Ensure there are no dry pockets of flour remaining.
  6. Top the apple filling with your prepared crisp topping. Evenly distribute it over the apples so that every bit of filling is covered.
  7. Bake uncovered for about 40–45 minutes until the topping turns golden brown and juices from the apples become bubbly.
  8. Once baked, allow your apple crisp to cool on the counter for about five minutes before serving to help thicken those delicious juices.
