Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak
  • 34 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (divided)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the steak by trimming fat and slicing thinly against the grain. Whisk together all sauce ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add broccoli and cook for 4-5 minutes until tender-crisp; transfer to a plate.
  3. In the same skillet, add remaining olive oil and beef in a single layer without touching for one minute. Stir occasionally until browned but slightly rare.
  4. Return broccoli to the skillet with the sauce; stir well and cook until thickened (about 1-3 minutes). Serve hot.
