Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak (thinly sliced)
  • 1 lb fresh broccoli (cut into florets)
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger (grated)
  • 2 tsp garlic (grated)
  • 6 Tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 3 Tbsp light brown sugar
  • 1.5 Tbsp corn starch
  • 2 Tbsp sesame oil
  • Optional: sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare white rice according to package instructions.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, ginger, garlic, brown sugar, corn starch, and sesame oil. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 Tbsp of oil. Sauté broccoli for 4-5 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender; remove from the pan.
  4. In the same skillet on high heat, add remaining oil and cook beef for about 2 minutes per side until browned.
  5. Pour the sauce over the beef, simmering for an additional 3-4 minutes until thickened. Return broccoli to the skillet, mixing well before serving.
