Description

Indulge in the delightful experience of homemade Beignets, a classic treat originating from New Orleans. These fluffy, sweet pastries are generously dusted with powdered sugar, creating an irresistible combination that’s perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk (or evaporated milk)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm water, yeast, and half the sugar; set aside.
  2. Combine flour and salt in a separate bowl.
  3. Mix activated yeast with milk, vanilla, remaining sugar, and egg until smooth; gradually add half the flour mixture.
  4. Knead dough with a stand mixer or by hand: add remaining flour and butter until smooth.
  5. Allow dough to rise in an oiled bowl for at least 2 hours.
  6. Roll out dough, cut into squares, and fry in hot oil until golden brown.
  7. Drain excess oil on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
