Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken breasts
- ½ cup honey
- ¾ cup soy sauce
- 2 Tablespoons rice vinegar
- ¼ cup mirin
- ½ teaspoon powdered ginger
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 Tablespoon cool water
Instructions
- Grease your slow cooker.
- Whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, mirin, ginger, garlic powder, onion powder, sesame oil in the slow cooker (do not add cornstarch yet).
- Add chicken breasts and coat with the sauce.
- Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours until tender.
- Remove chicken and shred it; keep warm.
- Strain the remaining sauce into a saucepan.
- Mix cornstarch with water and add to the strained sauce; bring to a boil until thickened.
- Combine shredded chicken with half of the sauce for serving.
