  • 7 tbsp butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/4 tsp red food coloring gel
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup red sanding sugar
  • 18 Hershey's chocolate kisses

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a stand mixer, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring gel; mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the creamed mixture until just combined.
  4. Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into balls. Roll each ball in red sanding sugar.
  5. Place cookie balls on the prepared baking sheet and bake for approximately 10 minutes. Immediately press a Hershey's chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie upon removing from the oven.
  6. Allow cookies to cool for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.
