  • 1 cup chickpea flour

  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice (or lemon juice)
  • 1 green hot chili pepper (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon parsley (chopped or cilantro)
  • 3 tablespoons oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Slice the onions thinly and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, nutritional yeast, ground cumin, salt, ground turmeric, water, lime juice, green chili pepper, and parsley. Whisk until you achieve a medium-thick batter.
  3. Gently mix in the sliced onions until well coated.
  4. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Drop small portions of the batter into the hot oil; fry in batches for about 2–4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
