  • 1 lb ground Italian sausage (hot or mild)
  • 32 oz marinara sauce
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup Pecorino Romano cheese
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and butter a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the ziti in salted boiling water until al dente; drain.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil and brown the sausage; drain excess fat.
  4. Add garlic and marinara sauce to the skillet; simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Combine cooked pasta with the sauce mixture.
  6. Layer half the pasta in the baking dish, sprinkle with half the cheeses, add remaining pasta, and top with remaining cheeses.
