Ingredients

  • 4 cups Water
  • 2 tbsp Kashmiri green tea
  • 1/2 tsp Baking soda
  • 12 Star anise
  • 2 Cardamom pods (crushed)
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 2 cups Whole milk
  • Sugar or honey to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan. Add green tea and boil for about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in baking soda and boil for an additional 2 minutes until the color deepens.
  3. Add star anise, cardamom, and cinnamon; boil for another minute.
  4. Reduce heat and let the mixture simmer for 20–30 minutes until it reduces by half.
  5. Stir in salt, then add whole milk and bring to a gentle boil while stirring.
  6. Once it turns pink, strain into cups and sweeten as desired.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with crushed nuts if desired.
