  • 12 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15-ounce) can diced tomatoes (do not drain)
  • 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce or tomato puree
  • 3 ounces tomato paste (about ¼ cup)
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 12 cups water (or more as needed to adjust consistency)
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt (or more to taste)
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 8 ounces bowtie pasta (uncooked)
  • ½ cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, shaved, shredded, or grated
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large soup pot over medium-high heat.
  2. Sauté ground beef with diced onion and minced garlic until cooked through; drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, chicken broth, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and uncooked bowtie pasta.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
  5. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 10-15 minutes until pasta is cooked.
  6. Adjust consistency as needed by adding more water or broth.
  7. Serve hot with ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and parsley as garnishes.
