  • 1 lb round steak (or sirloin/venison), thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper (half red, half green), sliced
  • 5 tablespoons soy sauce (divided)
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (divided)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (divided)
  • Garlic powder
  • Ground ginger
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  1. Slice the onion and bell pepper; set aside.
  2. In a bowl, mix 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon cornstarch, garlic powder, ground ginger, salt, and pepper. Pour over the steak and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, combine remaining soy sauce, cornstarch, and sugar for the glaze; set aside.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook onions and bell peppers for about 3-5 minutes until slightly browned; remove from skillet.
  5. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil and cook marinated steak in a single layer for about 5-7 minutes until browned.
  6. Return vegetables to the skillet and add the glaze. Stir to combine for about 1-2 minutes until thickened.
  7. Serve hot over white rice.
