Ingredients
- 1 stick unsalted butter, diced
- 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 stick unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream
- 4 tablespoons Kahlua, or other coffee liqueur
- 1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
- 3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- Ground cinnamon, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and unsweetened chocolate together until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the melted mixture with granulated sugar, eggs (one at a time), instant espresso powder, vanilla extract, and salt.
- In another bowl, sift together the flour and any remaining dry ingredients; fold into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared dish and bake for about 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- While cooling, beat room temperature butter with sifted powdered sugar; add heavy cream, Kahlua, and espresso powder until fluffy.
